BIOGRAPHY / ARTIST STATEMENT
Born in Denmark, immigrated to the United States very young, I grew up in Southern Idaho, and
moved to Long Beach, California in 1984 to study Architectural Interior Design. Having a successful
career in the field of interior design and being part of running a construction company for several years,
it was time to create in a more immediate way. I had been missing the hands on creativity in a timely
manner, rather than years to complete an entire project.
With only the very basic of techniques, taking just one Jewelry & Metalsmithing class, I quickly
became challenged and passionate about this new media, now going strong for over 24 years. By
studying books, attending workshops, and with several self-taught skills, along with my strong background
in design, I have built and developed my own signature style.
I consider my work as “Elegant Contemporary Jewelry”. To create my art works, I sketch, form,
rollerprint the recycled gold and silver with textured papers, hand construct and solder each individual
jewelry item combined with hand-selected lustrous pearls, diamonds, and colorful gemstones, into
various collections. The items are one-of-a-kind or in a series, that have the ability to stand on their own,
a balance of beauty as well as being a functional piece of art.
My jewelry and metal work have won Awards of Excellence, Best of Category, as well as
numberous 1st and 2nd place ribbons and has been nominated for ten NICHE Awards, and a NICHE
Award win. Some of my signature jewelry pieces are published in several books, including the ‘1000
Rings’, several editions of the juried ‘American Art Collector’, ‘Making Metal Beads’, ‘Art Jewelry Today 2’,
‘500 Gemstone Jewels’, the honor of the cover of ‘Showcase 500 Rings’ and a featured article in ‘Jewelry
Artist’ Magazine showing my jewelry as work using color with gemstones. Two of my handcrafted “Time
Ribbon” series metal beads, one of 18k gold and the other of oxidized sterling silver with 18k gold and
diamonds, were published in the Lark Book, ‘1000 Beads’, a worldwide juried book.
I show and personally sell my jewelry at various juried shows so I can have the opportunity to
meet the clients who will be wearing my work. I also have my collections at a few select galleries throughout
the country. I have built a strong clientele that continues to acquire my jewelry at the shows, and thru
commissioning custom designed pieces, inspiring me to keep designing and creating new work for them
to see and collect.
Married for 27 years to internationally known painter, Leo Posillico, whom I met when I was an
Interior Designer, selling his paintings to my residential and commercial clients. Together we create our
various forms of fine art in our studios in Northern California. When not in my metal and jewelry studio, I
have been redesigning and remodeling our home and gardens in Santa Rosa, California for our extensive
collection of contemporary jewelry, paintings, ceramics, glass, and sculpture.
