A Diamond Anniversary

Owners of De Tomaso built cars are an amazingly enthusiastic group.  We hear from them regularly, which is a good thing.  When they reminded us of the upcoming Diamond Anniversary we jumped on the chance to celebrate.  Italian car enthusiasts are quite familiar with the Pantera, but enthusiasts should also take a look at the beautiful models Vallelunga, Mangusta, Deauville, and Longchamp.  In fact, in 2017 a sensational Mangusta won the Concorso Italiano Best in Show, judged ahead of models from brands with a much longer history.  Yes, these cars are that special.

Alejandro De Tomaso founded De Tomaso Modena SpA in 1959, 60 years ago.  The man and his Company had extraordinarily colorful histories, at times owning Maserati, Innocenti, Moto Guzzi, and designers Ghia and Vignale.  Sg. DeTomaso was an enterprising man who built a strong relationship with Ford Motors whose engines were used in the iconic Pantera.  The Lincoln and Mercury dealers provided North American distribution.  The stories of this man are legendary.  Any history of the Italian Automotive industry from the 1950s to the 1990s would be incomplete without significant mention of Alejandro De Tomaso.

At Concorso this year, joining in the 60th anniversary celebration of De Tomaso, will be KABC-TV’s meteorologist Dallas Raines.  A long-time car guy, Mr. Raines will be bringing his freshly restored 1974 Pantera L.  We’re certain he is willing to share his enthusiasm with fellow Pantera owners.  In addition, Mr. Raines’ eclectic car collection is something he is likely to discuss with all of us at the stage.

Join Italian car enthusiasts, De Tomaso enthusiasts, and Dallas Raines, for a celebration of De Tomaso’s 60th anniversary.  Click here to register your vehicle, and here to purchase tickets.  See you on August 15th at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside.
