Highlights For Concorso on Saturday

EXCLUSIVE CARS AND AUTOMOTIVE CELEBRITIES AT CONCORSO ITALIANO 2018

Mitja Borkert (Head of Design at Lamborghini), Egidio Reali (CEO and founder of MR Collection Models), Emanuele Bomboi (Director Designer for the ATS GT), Cesare Gasparri Zezza (automotive journalist and direct descendant of Vincenzo Florio) and Valentino Balboni (legendary test-driver at Lamborghini) will be the celebrities on stage this year.

Furthermore, ATS Automobili Turismo Sport will bring the ATS GT. One of the best V8 powered supercars on the market, its shape was born from the pencil of Emanuele Bomboi and is a true testament to their Italian GT historic heritage.

A blast from the past, the New Stratos will be presented to the public. Based on the Ferrari F430, the New Stratos, developed by mechanical engineer and President of MAT Paolo Garella, pays a staggering homage to the legendary Lancia Stratos from the past, which is the undisputed king of the rally championship of its time, of which just 492 examples were built between 1973 and 1978.

This year, Concorso Italiano will also hold a special celebration for the 50th anniversaries of three V12 legends: The Lamborghini Espada, fast, nimble and comfortable 2+2 grand tourer with its unique design, the Lamborghini Islero, regarded as the most overlooked front-engine Lamborghini and the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, considered by many to be the best GT sports car in the world and the star of countless victories in its glorious racing years.

Alfa Romeo will celebrate its 108th birthday and the memory of the racing success that the brand celebrated at the Nürburgring, the perfect occasion to present two exclusive special models. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio NRING and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio NRING, of which 108 of each were built. Both vehicles are the essence of the brand’s technical innovation and engineering expertise.

The Best in Show Award returns this year with a brand-new custom sculpture.

The Award, born from the mind of Raffaello Porro, CEO of StudioRPR, represents the iconic shape of Italian sports cars. Mitja Borkert, Head of Design at Lamborghini, has been commissioned to design the Best in Show Award for Concorso Italiano 2018.

Mitja Borkert is responsible for the design of future Lamborghini models and the coordination of the design team. In the past, he has contributed to the development of several Porsche models and since his arrival at Lamborghini, he supervised the creation of the Super Trofeo Evo, the Urus and the Terzo Millennio.

The scale model for the Award is produced by Egidio Reali, CEO of MR Collection Models, official supplier of scale models to the most prestigious carmakers.

Egidio Reali is an Italian entrepreneur, CEO and founder of MR Group, the company that along with MR Collection Models, Looksmart Models and Atelier by MR Collection makes the best scale model cars in the world. In 2018 the company celebrated its 30th anniversary and has established itself as a worldwide leader.

Among the special guests at Concorso Italiano 2018, Cesare Gasparri Zezza will be present. Cesare is a direct descendant of Vincenzo Florio, the legendary inventor of the Targa Florio, Italy’s oldest car race. The competition was designed, created, financed and organized by Vincenzo Florio in 1905, fascinated by the new means of locomotion and already known in the environment for having participated in some competitions of the beginning of the century. The Targa Florio has been played 61 times, without interruption (except for the years of the two world wars), from 1906 to 1977.

Cesare Gasparri Zezza is an automotive journalist and he writes about modern and vintage cars, his great passion, in national newspapers.

2018 will also see Egidio Reali being inducted in the Hall of Fame, for their accomplishments in the automotive world, while the winner of the unique Valentino Balboni Award will be gifted an automotive-focused art piece by Luca Raimondi, an Italian artist from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

The Best of Marque Award will be presented by Giacomo Mattioli, President and CEO of Mattioli Automotive Group, the largest Ferrari dealer group in the world, representing the finest Ferraris in the marketplace.
